Chi è Accoglienza Degna?
Accoglienza Degna, è uno dei progetti fondati dal collettivo Làbas come necessaria conseguenza alla critica nei confronti delle politiche abitative e di accoglienza della città di Bologna. È un dormitorio sociale per migranti e senzatetto, autogestito da volontari, attivisti ed abitanti, che ha ospitato dalla sua nascita più di 40 persone senza fissa dimora, 13 al momento. Il nostro obiettivo è quello di fornire un modello alternativo all’accoglienza istituzionale, un luogo che consenta alle persone ospitate di prendersi il tempo necessario per acquisire gli strumenti necessari a costruire un proprio futuro indipendente in Italia e a Bologna. Per far questo il progetto si è dotato di uno sportello di Mediazione e Diritti che affianca gli abitanti negli aspetti legali, di assistenza sanitaria, nella ricerca di un impiego e di un alloggio, e di una scuola di italiano che attualmente forma circa 50 persone
Dove lavora Accoglienza Degna? Ci troviamo all’interno dell’ex Caserma Masini, una struttura di 9000 mq nel cuore della città di Bologna. Il complesso presenta un importante valore storico. Fino al 21 aprile 1945, quando fu liberata dai partigiani, rimase un luogo di detenzione fascista nonché teatro di uccisioni e torture ai danni di intellettuali dissidenti e partigiani attivi nella lotta di liberazione sul territorio bolognese. Dopo anni di abbandono e disinteresse da parte del pubblico e degli investitori privati, nella notte tra il 12 e il 13 novembre del 2012 l’ex-Caserma Masini è stata occupata da un gruppo di circa trenta persone del collettivo Làbas. Da quel momento la Caserma è diventa terreno fertile per numerosi progetti autogestiti di welfare dal basso e di economia alternativa che si fondano sui principi di sovranità alimentare, sostenibilità ambientale, diritto alla casa, solidarietà attiva, educazione alla cittadinanza critica e che difendono i valori dell’antirazzismo, antisessismo e antifascismo. Oltre ad AD, i progetti al momento presenti sono una pizzeria biologica, una ludoteca sociale, un birrificio artigianale, un orto popolare comunitario, una ciclofficina sociale, una falegnameria popolare, una Biblioteca Sociale Autogestita e un negozio di abiti usati.
Ci sono ancora tanti spazi da restituire alla cittadinanza e questo è quello che abbiamo in mente..
Vogliamo organizzare un campo estivo internazionale di due settimane:
- Per ristrutturare gli edifici in cui si trova il progetto - Per creare spazi dedicati per ognuna delle tante attività che hanno luogo ad Accoglienza Degna - Per promuovere collegamenti con la comunità internazionale
Questo progetto ci aiuterà a cambiare le cose…
…perché mira a:
- fornire più servizi alla comunità migrante di Bologna e a migliorare la qualità della vita di coloro che vivono ai margini della società
- restituire un’altra parte dell’Ex Caserma Masini alla comunità, al quartiere e alla città
- dare ai volontari internazionali l’opportunità di conoscere la situazione dei migranti in italia e aprire spazi di discussione sulle politiche migratorie europee
- promuovere scambi e creare collegamenti tra comunità di volontari in tutta l’Italia e l’Europa
Ma è un obiettivo ambizioso ed ecco dove voi entrate in gioco..
Abbiamo bisogno del vostro aiuto per realizzare le seguenti attività:
- la ristrutturazione dell’attuale dormitorio di Accoglienza Degna, composto da 7 camere, due bagni, una cucina e una grande sala comune
- la riqualificazione di un edificio dismesso adiacente, che vedrà la sistemazione di due camere, due aule per la scuola di italiano, un ufficio per lo sportello Mediazione e Diritti, due bagni e una grande sala ricreativa

It’s a social dormitory for refugees and homeless people in Bologna, managed by volunteers, activists and guests altogether. Since we began the project, it has housed over 40 refugees and currently hosts 13 people.
We aim to provide an alternative model to bleak camps elsewhere in Italy and wants to help refugees begin their lives again with dignity. AD is a place that allows all hosted people to take their time to acquire the tools they need in order to shape an independent future in Bologna and Italy. In order to achieve this, we founded an immigration desk that helps guests deal with issues related to documents, healthcare, work and housing, and a school of Italian that currently teaches about 50 people.

Where does Accoglienza Degna work?
We are situated in Ex Caserma Masini, is a 9000 square metre building located at the heart of Bologna and it’s a structure of tremendous historical value: until 21 April 1945, when the partisans liberated the building, was a fascist detention centre, and theatre of tortures and murders against dissident intellectuals and partisans who were active in the fight for liberation in this area.
After years of abandon and disinterest of public and private investors, during the night between the 12 and 13 of November 2012, about 30 activists of the left winged collective Làbas occupied the barracks. Ever since, the barracks has been used as a space to develop numerous self-organized welfare and alternative economy projects, which are based on principles of food sovereignty, environmental sustainability, right to housing, active solidarity and education to critical citizenship, and that defend values of anti-racism, anti-sexism and anti-fascism.
Aside from AD, the current projects are an organic pizzeria, a social playground, a handcrafted brewery, a community vegetable garden, a social bike repair place, a community carpentry, a social library and a thrift store.
There's still a lot of space to be returned to the society and here's what we're doing about it..
We want to run a two weeks international summer camp:
- to upgrade the buildings where our project is situated
- to create dedicated space for each of the many activities that take place in Accoglienza Degna
- to promote interchange and create links with the international volunteer community.
How do we make a change?
This project will be invaluable in:
- providing more services to refugee communities in Bologna and greatly improving the quality of life of marginalized people
- returning another part of Ex-Caserma Masini to the society, the neighbourhood and the city.
- giving volunteers the opportunity to learn more about the situation for refugees in Italy and opening debate spaces on European migration policies
But this is an ambitious goal and here is where you come in...
We need your help to perform the following activities:
- The renovation of the existing dormitory composed by 7 rooms, 2 bathrooms, one kitchen and a big common room
- The redevelopment of an abandoned adjacent building with the placement of two bedrooms, two classrooms for the Italian school, one office for the immigration desk, two bathrooms and one big recreation room.
